I used to have this game when I was a kid in the 90s and was looking for a travel game to take on vacation with us. This popped up in the search and I had to get it. For less than $9, it's a bargain. You will need a C battery that is not included. Once all the fish are loaded, you each take a fishing pole and turn the switch on the game. That starts the fish moving and opening and closing their mouths. Be the one who collects the most fish and you win.The motor is kinda loud, but that was to be expected. The game is so fun for the adults, 4 year old and 10 year old. It's actually harder than it looks to hook the fish, so we discovered that you kinda hover the pole end over the mouth and when it opens the mouth, put the pole in and wait til it closes its mouth before you pull it up. You can use this for color recognition and counting as well since you have to count how many fish each person ends up with. My only complaint is the fishing poles are way cheaper and thinner than I remember. You have to be really careful with those or they'll snap.My 4 year old granddaughter loves this game! Easy to learn, in fact she made up different ways to play and played for hours. Unfortunately, the game listed as "like new" only had 2, not 4 fishing rods as pictured. I already own the game with no rods, so only bought it for the 4 rods. Annoying!Affordable little toys for toddlers lots of fun and entertainmentBought this for my 2 year old grandson to help him with some fine motor skillsThis was a great choice and still works exactly as it did 24 years ago when my daughter had the same gameIt also came with a card game we will work up to in later monthsOver all great purchase for any toddlerMy two year old figured it out right away. Classic fish game just like I remember from my childhood. We’ve already broken one fish but it’s a cheap toy so I’m not heartbroken about it. Like another review said, it doesn’t come with batteries so plan ahead if gifting etc.Great gift for kids of all ages.Missing one fish when opened and requested an exchangeI will Return the one with missing part.when replacement arrives. Inconvenient but need 21 fish for a player to win. If 4 kids play and each catch 5 each it would be a tie (5 each) and no winner. You need 21 fish. I hope it holds up there is no comparison to the original decades ago. Still Cute very nice gift but super noisy when battery installed. I don’t recall the original so loud. It’s nothing like the original they say from decades ago. This one is smaller the fish are smaller the game set with fish pond is smaller Much much lighter. The plastic board is very light weight. There are 4 plastic expandable fishing rods. The original had 6 with string and a ball at end. Sad to see such a nice game board with such big quality changes.I loved this game as a child and wanted to get it for my niece. She loves it. It works great and it’s an easy game to teach and understand. Definitely a great purchase. This is an OK little toy for the price. The 'fish' filled tray, revolves around a base containing raised areas which when travelled over, force the 'fish' to open their mouths, enabling you to use one of the 'rods' to catch it and pull it free. Whoever gets the most fish is the winner.Very simply but is actually really hard. The tray revolves pretty quickly (and is very noisy), so the fish's mouths don't stay open for that long. It's hard for my 3yr old (her third birthday was last week) to catch even a single fish, she keeps having to turn it off. To be honest, it's difficult enough for me as an adult to play it how it's meant to be played. To its credit, it does state on the box that it's for ages 4+ but I'd have issue with even that age...more like 6+. To make it even more difficult, the designers have made each of the 'fishing rods' pivot at the end and move freely, so it's not just a case of putting a rigid plastic stick into the mouth when it opens, you also have inertia to take into account. The other thing worth noting is that this takes a 1.5v 'C' cell battery (the short, dumpy round ones that nobody already has ever has in their cupboard and then has to go out to the shops specifically to buy one, and then they're only sold in 2s). :-) I'm only giving this 3 stars because of the price point...if it was any higher, it'd be down to a 2 star item. This was bought for our six year old, extremely active son who is extremely energetic and loves boisterous play. The game managed to keep him transfixed, quiet for over an hour and has provided an exercise in dexterity and concentration. The various colours of the fish help keep individuals in track of their conquests and the revolving mechanism, though predictable, manages to keep the players alert. The only down side of this toy is that the rods are very flimsy and are easily broken. Once they are broken, the plastic rods are impossible to fix.the rest of the toy is well made, the fish are a good size and fit well in the grooves. Neat and simple packaging with minimal wastage. Overall, a nice game for those very active kids for when they are stuck indoors! The product is really good. Good entertainment for the kids, Will keep them busy. My daughter's nursery use them to fine tune their hand motor and co-ordination skills. The quality of the fish rod and fishes are also better than some of them available in stores. One fish was in two pieces, I thought it had come broken, but realised it was not. It can be joined very easily. Just that the battery panel string is loose and I have to open the screw everytime to refit the battery in place. may be the fault was in the one piece sent to meMy 3-year-old daughter really liked it but the build quality is very low, it is unbearably noisy, battery lock nut came out in the first opening (I glued the nut back in its place). I don't know if there is a better option in the market but I wouldn't buy that one ever again.
